Here are seven family friendly activities that are close, and either cheap or free. Gaston County and the surrounding area has a lot to offer-enjoy!
Bowling at Textile Lanes at 680 Park Street in Belmont. They do birthday parties, and have great specials at the grill-which has been open since 1963! It’s only $3 per game weekdays, $4 on weekends and holidays.
Goat Island Park & Greenway 141 8th Avenue, Cramerton. The park features 2 pedestrian bridges, playgrounds, swings, picnic shelters with grills, a dog park, and much more. It’s all free!
The US National Whitewater Center 5000 whitewater Center Parkway , Charlotte. If you haven’t been, you really need to go! Parking is $6, and you can take your dog
(and family). They have ice skating, zip lines, ropes, climbing, whitewater, yoga and trails. There are different charges and availability for activities, check it out here.

Charlotte Douglas Airport Overlook Airport Overlook Drive (GPS 7300 Old Dowd Road). Charlotte. Watch the aircraft take off and land right in front of you. Picnic area and park benches are available. It’s free- and open from 8 am-10:30 pm.
Crowders Mountain State Park 522 Park Office Lane, Kings Mountain. They offer over 20 miles of trails, rock climbing, fishing, and back pack camping. It’s free!
Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden 6500 South New Hope Road, Gastonia. The garden is a jewel, and we are lucky to have it here in Gaston County. The gardens are beautiful, as are the displays and exhibits. They offer lots of classes and workshops, and it’s a popular wedding venue.
