Former Gaston County Sheriff Alan Cloninger was honored last week, by court being held in his hometown Dallas.District Attorney Travis Page and Judge David Phillips arranged for an abbreviated session of Superior Court to be held in the historic Dallas courthouse last Thursday.
Cloninger, acting as bailiff, brought the court to order with “All stand, oh yes, oh yes, oh yes. This honorable court is now open and sitting for the dispatch of it’s business.” Cloninger told Superior Court Judge David Phillips “For me to be your bailiff today is a great honor”.
Former Belmont police chief Chad Hawkins was to be sworn in yesterday as the new Gaston County sheriff.
