From public to private, here are 9 Gaston county pools where you can get wet, splash, and swim this summer!
1. The Southampton Club 2813 Kendrick Road, Gastonia. Home of the Stingray Swim Team, Southampton offers a Jr. Olympic size pool, a kiddie pool, an indoor lounge and snacks. They offer Swim and Tennis memberships, but Swim only memberships start with $400 initiation fee and $580 per year for singles, slightly higher for couples and families. Info here…
2. Mount Holly Swim & Racquet Club 306 Madison Drive, Mt. Holly. When I was a kid, nowhere was better than the Mt. Holly Pool- lots of fun memories! They have a baby pool, a 5 lane lap pool, a diving pool, and an active swim team..They also have a concession stand, restrooms, picnic tables, and tennis courts. They offer family, single, senior, and baby sitter memberships: Memberships range range from $50 to $500 based on membership type, and there is a $200 joining fee unless you join before May. 3. Gardner Acres Swim & Tennis Club 937 Ridgeway Drive, Gastonia. Founded in 1964, Gardner Acres is a non-profit pool and tennis club owned by it’s members. They offer a 25 meter outdoor pool, high and low diving boards, fenced baby pool, snack bar, bathroom, shower and changing facilities. They have a championship swim team, offer adult swim and swim lessons.Membership is $585 first year, $500 thereafter. Membership info, splash here…
4. Cramer Mountain Club 100 Hidden Pastures Drive, Cramerton. They offer what they call a Sports Social membership, which includes the pool, tennis, and pretty much everything but golf. They do have a junior Olympic size pool, a zero degree entry, splash pad, and an enormous 15 ft circular water slide. The pool hosts many events throughout the year and is home to the Cramer Mountain Club swim team. They also have an onsite restaurant. There is a $2000 initiation fee, and then $110 per month. 5. Gaston County Country Club 3700 Country Club Dive, Gastonia. They offer an Olympic size pool,double-loop slide, diving area and gated zero-entry kiddie pool. and mushroom splash pad. The bathhouses include lockers, showers and a dressing area. Poolside salads, wraps, sandwiches and more are available, as well as a weekend tiki bar offering cocktail specials throughout the summer. An air conditioned indoor dining room is conveniently located at the pool, available for private events such as birthday parties, or just to cool off from the sun’s rays. Social memberships which include the pool (no golf) starts at $3500 initiation fee, and then $410 per month. Check it out…
6. Pinebrook Swim Club 601 Eagle Road, Belmont. Pinebrook is a Member’s Only Swim Club located in the heart of Belmont, NC. Many of their members swam here as children and now enjoy the pool with their children! They are home to the Pinebrook Gators Swim Team. 7. Lineberger Park Pool 632 West Garrison Blvd. Gastonia. Public pools can’t be cool- right? Wrong! Lineberger Park Pool opened in the summer of 2012. Designed as more of a small-scale water park, it has a little bit of something for everyone. It features a zero-depth entry with fountain geysers on “the beach,” a lazy river, a two-story waterslide, three lanes for lap swimming, and colorful splash features including a bucket dump and three rainfall aqua domes. There are restrooms with showers and dressing space. A free basket service is offered to keep personal belongings. Lounge chairs are available to rent. A concession stand located within the corner of the pool house serves swimmers and park patrons. $3 per person per session- two sessions daily. More here…
8. Cramerton Recreation Pool 1 Julian Street, Cramerton. Splash on the cheap! The pool at the C.B Huss Rec Center is a local favorite- and at $3 for residents and $5 for non-residents, it’s a lot of fun for the money! The pool is open 12 PM – 6PM for public swimming. Check it out!
9. Erwin Center * Park Swimming Pool 913 North Pryor Street, Gastonia. Erwin Center opened in 1961, and was named after Gaston County’s first African American physician. The park’s outdoor facilities include a swimming pool, a splash pad (open during the summer months), a grass volleyball court, horseshoe pits, playground, tot play area, a large picnic shelter and a walking track. Erwin Park Pool is a traditional, 105’ x 45’ rectangular-shaped pool that has a diving board. The depth ranges from 3’ – 8’ deep. There are restrooms with showers and dressing space. A free basket service is offered to keep personal belongings. The pool is open from 12:30-6 PM, and best of all, admission is only $2. Check it out…
