Last Tuesday the Gastonia City Council authorized a $15,000 incentive for police officers who transfer to the Gastonia Police Department. That incentive is the highest in all of North Carolina at present. The city had been offering a $7500 incentive.

Gastonia Police Chief Trent Conrad said the incentive will help attract qualified sworn officers to fill Gastonia’s ranks. The city already offers perks like take home cars, and extra pay for certain shifts, as well as for those who speak a foreign language.
