Gaston College’s softball team completed its 14th doubleheader sweep of the season with a workmanlike effort in 11-3 and 8-3 victories over Brunswick Community College on Friday afternoon at Gastonia’s CaroMont Health Park.

The victories extended the Rhinos’ winning streak to seven games and improved their record 33-5 overall.

“Anytime you get the wins, it’s good,” said Gaston College coach Mike Steuerwald, whose team has received votes in the National Junior College Athletic Association poll five times in the last weeks. “I feel like we haven’t been necessarily playing good but we’ve been doing what’s necessary to get the wins. And winning is hard.”

On Friday, Gaston College got complete game wins from starters Abigail Gawlinski (14-4) and Abigail Brewton (15-1)
