Gastonia smash and grab turned into smash and run

Three masked and hooded robbers picked the wrong jewelry store to rob. Morris Jewelers owner Michael Hennes saw the hooded robbers walk through the front door.  “I just reacted. I knew what was about to happen,” said Hennes.

The robbers broke two jewelry cases before they notice Hennes pointing a gun at them and telling them to leave. The trio left immediately. Hennes followed them outside hoping to get a tag number, but there was none. The thieves did $7000 of damage, but did not get any merchandise. No one was hurt.
