Lenox Development Group of Cramerton is planning on building a food hall similar to Optimist Hall in Charlotte on the site  former Save a lot  grocery store in Gastonia. The site is adjacent to CaroMont Health Park in the FUSE District. At right is a proposed drawing of the type of structure Lenox is considering.

City Councilman Robert Kellogg said “I think it’s great. It’s a wonderful idea and it would be a great amenity to that area of Gastonia. That part of the city is changing. The vibe and the feeling and the amenities that are wanted there are really looking at a different demographic and trying to make a welcoming statement to younger people and individuals who want to live there and walk to a restaurant or to a place where they can get some food and have some fun. So I think it’s a great addition, and it fits right in with the plan.” The planned Gastonia food hall will resemble Optimist Hall in Charlotte
