Duke Energy has leased a beachfront park near Belmont to Gaston County. The park includes a swimming beach, boat ramps, two large fishing piers, picnic areas, and public parking on the 68 acre site.
In their agreement with Gaston County, Duke will also build a canoe and kayak launch area., for which Gaston county will pay a portion.
The park is located is located at the Southpoint Access Recreation area.
