Casino Royale in Kings Mountain?

The debate about the Catwaba Indian Nations right to build a casino in Kings Mountain went before a Senate subcommittee last Thursday. The proposal was supported by Catawba Indian Chief Bill Harris and Kings Mountain Mayor Scott Neisler, and was objected to by Richard Sneed, principal chief of the Eastern Band of the Cherokee Indians. The dispute is in federal court. The Catwaba Indian Nation would also need a Class lll gaming license form the governor, but so far, the governor has not taken a public stance on the project.
In related news, 140 acres near the casino has changed hands, or will soon do so. The new owners are affiliated with Wallace Cheves, a Republican donor and casino developer.
Gaston County's Fly, Drive, Ride-in was a success!

The rain  held off, the music and food were great, and the people came out and enjoyed a great day at Gaston Municipal Airport to raise funds for Camp Centurion. Camp Centurion is a home in Bessemer City for veterans. I go to a lot of car shows, and this was the coolest!  Ferraris, old Mini's, a brand new $200,000 Aston Martin, and lots more!

Mailing your ballot?

3%, or about 140 ballots have been rejected out of 3000 ballots submitted in Gaston county so far. The main issue seems to be the voters failed to get a witness signature, or the witness's address was not completed. Be careful, be thorough, and be sure your vote is counted! Requests for absentee ballots has quadrupled since last year.

Mans best friend
This handsome fellow is eight-year old Darwin(45427732)!

We believe he is a cattledog or border collie mixed with Lab or a similar retriever based on his markings and overall demeanor. He has a reduced adoption fee of just $25 because he needs a dental cleaning, which will need to be arranged by his new adopter; however, his neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are all covered by his adoption fee. He is also heartworm negative.
Darwin was found as a stray and has a good attitude, though he enjoys shredding anything fabric so he will need some durable dog toys and bedding in his new home. He knows how to sit when requested and did his business on leash when we went for a walk outside, so he probably has some degree of potty training under his belt. He's also affectionate and likes to jump up on people so he can be as cloooossse as he can get.
Darwin was non-reactive to other dogs when passing by in the kennels but has not yet been formally dog tested. GCACE does not test for cat reactivity.

Come meet Darwin and all our other adoptable pets at 1491 Business Park Ct in Gastonia, NC.

Not yet approved? Either fill out an adoption application in person or online:
