Hello Tuesday, it's David. We have lots of restaurant, food and events news this week-enjoy!

Today it will be mostly cloudy and not as warm, humid with a thunderstorm, and a high of 76. Tonight there will be considerable clouds and humid, with a couple of showers, and a low of 67.


 
Confederate statue back in the news

A court hearing regarding the Confederate statue in front of the Gaston county Courthouse has been continued. No new date has been set at this time.

After a deal with the Sons of Confederate Veterans fell through, in August  of 2020 Gaston County Commissioners voted 4-3 to keep the statue in front of the courthouse.
Gaston Schools to stick with masks-for now

Your kids are going to have to wear masks while inside school buildings, at least through October 18. The motion to continue the mask mandate  was passed by the Gaston County Board of Education by a 6-3 margin.

Hickory Grove Haunted Trail

For more than 20 years the Hickory Grove Haunted Trail has been scaring Gaston County residents - all in good fun! The trail opens this Friday night and goes through October 31st. More...
Panthers are 2-0 after beating lackluster Saints

The Panthers beat the hapless Saints yesterday at Bank of America Stadium. Jameis Winston made some poor decisions for the Saints, but in fairness, he was pressured on two-thirds of his drop backs. Hard to believe, and it's still early, etc., etc., but the Panthers are the #1 defense in the NFL.
I scream, you scream

We all scream for ice cream!  Joe & Carie's Creamery has opened in the former Ben & Jerry's in Gastonia. They are located between Moe's and Showmar's on Franklin Boulevard.


 

Main Street Social

Main Street Social has opened in Stanley. They serve fresh roasted coffee, local craft beers and wine. We stopped in on Saturday night and they were hopping! They had Mabry's Q House food truck there-delish! They are located just down from the Woodshed.
 


Old Stone now has a food truck!

Old Stone now has a new food truck called Old Stone Streetside. Check out their menu-which includes Cheerwine glazed baby back ribs!. Here..

Country Fest returns to Stanley

Country Fest begins on a Friday evening in early October and ends Saturday evening on Main Street in Downtown Stanley. Country Fest includes carnival rides, live music, food and local vendors.

PTL Rides Again
"The Eyes of Tammy Faye" starring Jessica Chastain was released nationwide today, although it's not currently playing at the Regal theater in Gastonia. It is playing at Northlake and other Charlotte theaters.
