Unless you live on the moon, you probably know that Facebook and Instagram were down from noon yesterday until about 7 PM last night. Facebook says the disruption was caused by "configuration changes on the backbone routers". Looks like all systems are go this morning.
Today it will be cloudy with a thunderstorm or two, and a high of 81. Tonight will be cloudy and humid, with a couple of showers and thunderstorms, and a low of 67.
Pita Wheel owner Chris Davis recently purchased Doffer's Canteen, and plans to rename it The Twisted Goat Deli. He also plans to reintroduce the chicken sandwich from the prior South Fork Deli. (worth slapping your Mama for!) Some modern art and kitsch will round out the decor, as well as a new garage door opening to the patio.

Be there for the annual "Crank-up" of the antique gasoline and steam powered tractors and machines. One of the highlights of the engine show is the operational 1900 single-stand, Continental Cotton Gin and we will be ginning cotton all weekend long during the festival until we are all ginned out! In addition to the engine show, many activities are planned including a Kids County Fair, Heritage Arts Area, Handmade Craft vendors and Music.

Slot Machines to Double at KM Casino
Business is good at Catawba Two Kings Casino, prompting casino management to double the amount of slot machines from 500 to 1000. A new modular building will be constructed beginning in September, and is expected to be completed in December. This should not affect the scheduled construction of the permanent facility, expected to cost $273 million.
Gaston County Commissioners approve rules for Lithium operation
Piedmont Lithium was late to the party as far as letting Gaston County officials know of their plans to build a Lithium mining and processing plant at a site near Cherryville. They had already spent $58 million before the County was aware of their intentions.
Those new rules include operating hours, fencing height, and noise mitigation.
Panthers are 3-1 after losing to Dallas
The Panthers lost to the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday 36-28. The Panthers get an A for the first half, and an F for the second half. The Panthers had a one point lead at the half, but Darnold and the defense both collapsed in the second. Darnold was sacked five times, threw two interceptions- both to Trevon Diggs. Both led to Dallas touchdowns.
The Panthers play the Eagles Oct. 10 at 1 PM in Bank of America Stadium.
