Wake Forest School of Medicine in Charlotte
In October, Atrium Health, Wake Forest Baptist Health and Wake Forest School of Medicine have solidified their deal about a year and a half after announcing it. The deal — characterized as a strategic combination, not an acquisition — will bring Wake Forest under the Atrium name and create a second School of Medicine campus in Charlotte.
As well as being a major economic driver, the school will bring next generation talent to the area, and there are also plans for an innovation center.
Sounds like a win win win for the area!

America's favorite game show host, Alex Trebeck, has died of stage 4 pancreatic cancer. He hosted over 8000 shows, beating the record of Bob Barker of The Price is Right. Shows hosted by Trebeck will continue to air through December 25.

My favorite cheese-steaks are back in town (delicious bread and plenty of meat) and our kids loved their first NY style pizza! Delicious pepperoni. They were certainly busy but didn’t skimp on the quality in our order. So happy to have this staple back in Gastonia!"
12 Gaston County People Have died of Covid-19 since last Tuesday
Active cases have shot up from 2073 to 2348. To date 5,854 have recovered, and we have had 8,356 positive tests. 154 people have died in Gaston County from the virus. The largest group of positive cases are in the 25-49 age group. See interactive graphic here...
Coronavirus cases have shot up in the US and Europe, and infections are expected to rise during the winter. The good news-Pfizer announced that their new vaccine proved 90% effective, and the FDA has granted emergency authorization for Eli Lilly's treatment that was given to Chris Christy.
