UNC Charlotte professor predicts roaring NC economy

UNC Charlotte professor and economist  John Connaughton predicts a roaring economy in 2021 - assuming that Covid19 is brought under control. “The coronavirus dominated the economic picture in 2020, and the coronavirus will dominate the economic picture in 2021 as well,“  Connaughton said in a webcast.

Lowe's announces 100 Hometown & $10 million initiative


In celebration of their 100 anniversary, Lowe's has announced their 100 Hometowns initiative.The effort -- dubbed 100 Hometowns -- is a chance to “beautify forgotten spaces," said CEO Marvin Ellison. Up until April 19, people across the nation will have a chance to nominate a project in their hometown that's in need of funding.

Eligible projects include restoring and rebuilding community spaces such as parks, senior citizen or youth centers and neighborhood housing as well as cultural preservation and area revitalization.  Lowe's has pledged $10 million  to the effort.

Officials said  “He is also a person of interest in a shooting that occurred in Bessemer City on February 10." In addition to the five felony assault charges, Anderson is charged with “one count of possession of a firearm by felon, four counts of injury to personal property, one count of injury to real property, and one count of felony speeding to elude,” the release said. Bond was set at $75,000, officials said.
