Today it will be nice and warm, with intervals of clouds and sun.. The high will be 71-perfect!. Tonight will be mainly clear, with a low of 41.
UNC Charlotte professor predicts roaring NC economy

UNC Charlotte professor and economist  John Connaughton predicts a roaring economy in 2021 - assuming that Covid19 is brought under control.
The coronavirus dominated the economic picture in 2020, and the coronavirus will dominate the economic picture in 2021 as well,“  Connaughton said in a webcast.

Lowe's announces 100 Hometown & $10 million initiative

In celebration of their 100 anniversary, Lowe's has announced their 100 Hometowns initiative.
The effort -- dubbed 100 Hometowns -- is a chance to “beautify forgotten spaces," said CEO Marvin Ellison. Up until April 19, people across the nation will have a chance to nominate a project in their hometown that's in need of funding.

Eligible projects include restoring and rebuilding community spaces such as parks, senior citizen or youth centers and neighborhood housing as well as cultural preservation and area revitalization.  Lowe's has pledged $10 million  to the effort.

Lincoln Town Car used as "Deadly Weapon"
Reginald Duncan Anderson Jr., 31, is accused of using his vehicle as a weapon, resulting in “five felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon on a law enforcement officer,” the Lincoln County sheriff’s office said  Anderson was being pursued in connection with warrants issued by the City of Dallas. At least four patrol cars were damaged during the incident. The chase began in Gaston County and ended in a yard in Lincoln County.

Officials said  “He is also a person of interest in a shooting that occurred in Bessemer City on February 10." In addition to the five felony assault charges, Anderson is charged with “one count of possession of a firearm by felon, four counts of injury to personal property, one count of injury to real property, and one count of felony speeding to elude,” the release said. Bond was set at $75,000, officials said.

Widespread fighting at Altitude Trampoline Park

An employee was hurt as widespread fighting broke out Saturday night at the Altitude Trampoline Park in Gastonia. An estimated 200-400 teens were running through the parking lot when Lowell Police arrived.An employee sustained minor injuries.Police say no weapons were involved. More...

We have had 24,029 positive Gaston County Covid19 tests to date, and 399 people have died due to the virus. Currently 23 people are hospitalized, and 2 people are on a ventilator. The largest group affected is ages 25-49. See interactive graphic here...
