Welcome home to this beautiful historic Queen Ann nestled in the heart of York Chester Historic District. This home is named after the original owners, Dr. Lucius and Nena Glenn. Dr. Glenn saw the need for health care in Gastonia and, along with 4 other doctors, helped found the first hospital in Gastonia, City Hospital in 1908, and acted as VP. Dr. Glenn and his wife are laid to rest in the Oakwood Cemetery just up the street. This home still holds a lot of the original character you would expect from a historic home! The home has 5 bedrooms and 3 full baths split between the first two floors. The third floor holds two spare rooms. This home also includes a full basement accessed from the exterior of the home. Trivia answer: What year did the ball first drop in Times Square?
1907 was the first year for the ball. The first New Year's Eve Ball, made of iron and wood and adorned with one hundred 25-watt light bulbs, was 5 feet in diameter and weighed 700 pounds. It was built by a young immigrant metalworker named Jacob Starr, and for most of the twentieth century the company he founded, sign maker Artkraft Strauss, was responsible for lowering the Ball.
