Governor Cooper has signed an order "to permit the delivery or carry-out of mixed beverages as an alternative to on-site consumption," So that means restaurants, hotels, private clubs and bars, and some distilleries can now to serve alcohol to go. It must be in a sealed container, the purchaser must be 21 or older, not intoxicated, and a limit of one drink for carry out or delivery.

Lowell to become home to one of the largest industrial parks in Charlotte Region
According to a press release from Lowell, NorthPoint Development just closed on the 365-acre piece of land “that will house a 3.6 million square feet of Class A industrial space, Gateway85”.
The project also includes about 200 acres in the city of Gastonia, making the entire project about one third the size of the entire City of Lowell.
Man charged in Mt. Holly officers' death make first court appearance
Joshua Funk, 24, appeared in court for the first time Friday morning. He is charged with the felony first degree murder of officer Tyler Herndon of the Mount Holly Police force. Funk is being held without bond, and has been given a court ordered attorney.
Officer Herndon was laid to rest Tuesday at Bethlehem Baptist Church in his hometown of Kings Mountain, with hundreds in attendance to honor the fallen officer.

City of Gastonia electric awarded
The City of Gastonia has received a national commendation from the American Public Power Association (APPA) for its support in multiple electric power restoration efforts and most recently in the sister Town of Drexel, NC which suffered widespread outages as a result of storm ZETA earlier this year.
On October 30, 2020, the City of Gastonia sent four crews to assist the Town of Drexel. While responding to these calls for aid, City crews were able to restore power to hundreds of homes and businesses throughout the area, as they cleared limbs from power lines, installed new poles, and reconnected lines that had been damaged.
“As a community-owned utility company, mutual aid is at the heart of what we do and we are proud to step up and help our neighbors in need,” said City Manager Michael Peoples. “It is an honor to offer our support to other communities when they have a need and we have the resources and expertise available to do so.”
