GSOA Friends and Family Campaign 2020 - 2021
Gaston School of the Arts is continuing its annual GSOA Friends and Family fundraising campaign with a goal of $20,000 this year to offset operating costs. Why do we need more funds? We strive to keep costs affordable for the entire community while still providing excellence in arts education. However, this year, funds are especially needed to offset the losses incurred by the COVID-19 pandemic. The student fees collected by the school usually cover approximately 63% of our total operating costs, so we must find other means of revenue for about 37% of our budget each year.

If you love the school and appreciate its work in the community, please join the supporters in the community who faithfully give a gift once or twice a year to the school.

Will North Carolinians get vaccinated?

In an October study by Elon University's survey team, only 37% of registered voters in our state said they would accept a Covid-19 vaccine, with 36% saying they wouldn’t accept it and the rest unsure.
On a side note, I asked my sister, who is a Nurse Practitioner, if she was going to get vaccinated. she said "absolutely!" I asked her which vaccine I shoujld get, and she said "the first one avaialble."
When can you get a vaccine?

According to the New York Times, here is a tentative timeline for when you can expect to get a vaccine:

December: Health care workers and nursing home residents
January: As the vaccine is given in two doses, those receiving the vaccine in December will get a second injection in January.
February and March:
People over the age of 65 (and especially those over 75); people with medical conditions that put them at risk of death if infected; and essential workers, like those in education, food, transportation and law enforcement.
April, May and June: The most likely scenario is that even people who don’t qualify as a priority — like healthy, nonessential workers younger than 65 — will begin receiving the vaccine by the spring. Most Americans could be vaccinated by early summer.

Panthers lose to Broncos, 32-27

Christian McCaffrey was not on the field Sunday, and neither was DJ Moore. Teddy Bridgewater could have used the help. The Bronco's Drew Lock threw of a career high 4 touchdowns to beat the Panthers. The only good news is that at 4-9 the Panthers are close to locking down a top 10 draft pick.
