Man's Best Friend

Meet 43083231 - My name is Maple!

Maple is a 1.5-year old brown, white and black hound mix who weighs 48 pounds. She came into the shelter as a stray. Maple is microchipped and tested negative for heartworms. She is a little shy around strangers, but warms up quickly and is very friendly. She needs to learn a little manners, but likes attention and will sit for treats. Maple is ready to find her furever home. More info here...
I hope you took time to thank a veteran yesterday.

I am a veteran myself, but my service was more MASH than GI Joe. But yesterday I had lunch with two veterans who saw combat, and both had  PTSD. Upon returning home, one would wake when his wife woke him, only to find himself sitting at the bedroom window with a high powered rifle. (His wife had hidden all the ammunition). The other fellow at lunch said that when he got home, he would often pack a rucksack and go live in the woods for days or weeks at at time. He said, "that's just where I felt I was supposed to be". Fortunately they both got help.
If you are a veteran that needs help, or know of a veteran that does, or If you are in immediate crisis, call the Veterans Crisis Line at 1-800-273-8255 and press 1, text to 838255, or chat online at
