The new Paramount Institute of Cosmetic Arts had their grand opening last week. The new school is a 501©(3) non-profit organization, and is managed by a board. The founding board is made up of industry veterans and leaders of Christian Jacobs and William Henry Salons.

Located in the old St. Stephen’s AME Zion Church at 602 Martin Luther King Jr. Way in Gastonia, restoration of the building was a year long process. The building had been vacant for four years prior to renovation.

Budget airline Frontier will be offering nonstop flights to Cancun beginning in March from Charlotte Douglas International Airport. The new route will fly three times a week, Mondays, Fridays, and Saturdays.

Imagine sleeping outside in this winter weather, or not being about to afford to heat your home properly. This year Gastonia’s warming centers have moved from the old Salvation Army location, to Unity Baptist Church at 482 North Myrtle School Road in Gastonia.

“They come in, and they can get hot chocolate, coffee, snacks,” Crystal Walls, the executive director of HealthNet Gaston , said. “We have nonperishable food items that we can give out. It’s just a place where our customers can come in, stay warm, and stay out of the cold."

HealthNet Gaston says they have about 50 volunteers, but still need more. If you are interested in volunteering or donating, contact HealthNet Gaston at 704-874-1958.

Gastonia’s NJR Construction has made the Charlotte Business Journal’s Fast 50…again! To be eligible, companies must be located in the Charlotte Metro area, and have had at least $1 million in revenue in 2024.

NJR is a metal framing, drywall, and acoustical ceiling contractor. They have 10 employees and are located at 2749 Court Dive in Gastonia.
