Creative Solutions in Belmont sold to Party Reflections

Brad and Shannon Thomas have sold Creative Solutions in Belmont to Party Reflections out of Charlotte. They are no longer involved in the business. The Thomases started Creative Solutions in 2003.

Party Refelctions was started in Charlotte in 1958 as a chair and table rental service. They have grown and expanded over the years and now serve the Charlotte region, as well as Raleigh, Greensboro, Winston Salem and Columbia South Carolina.

Party Reflections CEO Christian Eastman says the company plans two more acquisitions in the near future, and that he plans to double the size of the company.

Gaston County has a new Indian restaurant

Kawab Kabab has taken over the former Curry restaurant space at 3758 East Franklin Blvd., Suite 150 in Gastonia. That’s near Jersey Mike’s and the movie theater.

According to their Facebook page, they serve “Authentic Indian & Pakistani Cuisine in Gastonia, NC. Enjoy fresh halal food, flavorful kababs, delicious curries, fresh naan, biryani, buffet specials, dine-in, takeout, and delivery. Experience great taste, warm hospitality.” They have a Sunday buffet, kids under 5 eat free.

County mulling new indoor recreation facility in Dallas

Dallas has it going on. The new Gaston Aquatics facility is nearing completion, and Gaston County commissioners are considering a new indoor recreation facility. Although not a current priority, the facility would be an indoor facility that would be suitable for basketball, volleyball, and perhaps cheer leading and martial arts…and perhaps pickleball?

The idea for an indoor sports complex was part of the County Master Plan from approximately ten years ago. A recent feasibility study said that by it’s 5th year, the facility should be self sustaining financially.

As someone who travels to kids volleyball tournaments, I can say these kinds of facilities bring in the families from all over, and that’s just volleyball. And they eat in restaurants and stay in hotels. This would be a win win for Gaston County.

Banner News set to return

According to the interwebs, the Banner News is under new ownership and will resume publication. They say they will be “a local news source serving Belmont, Mount Holly, and the surrounding community.”

It will be interesting to see their approach, format, etc. We are newspapers fans and wish them all the best! Now if someone will just bring back Mad Magazine…

Owl Legs Coffee coming to Mount Holly

A new “Euro-style” coffee shop is coming to Mount Holly, opening tomorrow. They are located at 101 West Central Ave. Not sure about the “Owl Legs” reference, or what a “Euro -style coffee shop” is-but curious to find out!

As you may know, we are all for Gaston County entrepreneurs of any and all sizes. Have you heard of Lil Dunks Doughnuts? Evidently they make some of the best glazed doughnuts and apple fritters you ever had! Right now they are in a food truck at 115 East First Street in Lowell.

Get there early- they sell out of apple fritters!

At Miami Fusion in Lowell we have the best Cuban food- but we also serve breakfast until 2 PM, and we cater!

The Gastonia Rotary Community Garden

How cool is this? This is the Rotary Community Garden at 406 East Franklin in Gastonia. We understand that they take a lot of food to the Crisis Assistance Ministry, and there is also a free food pickup just outside the gates of the garden. Great job guys! Mount Holly also has a community garden, and there may be others.
