Food Truck Ally coming along in Belmont
As we told you back in June, Food Truck Alley in Belmont, after some delays, is moving ahead. There will be space for 7 food trucks. It looks like the lot is striped and power in place. The lot is behind the Everyday Market, which is at 7 South Main Street in Belmont. Parking? TBD…
Olde Meckelnburg Brewery in Mount Holy
We are seeing some chatter online about OMB Mount Holly opening in September, but we got this from Jim Birch, Chief Operating Officer: “No opening date yet - trying to hit a few more construction milestones and get our gas service installed first. Will be in touch once we have clarity for the Fall by early September.”
The new bridge in River Street Park in Mount Holly
The new bridge at River Street Park was dedicated last week. Not only does the bridge look great, but the park looks super too, with new playground equipment and more. A real plus for Mount Holly and Gaston County.
Sumner Group makes list of woman owned businesses
Local ad agency The Sumner Group made the Charlotte Business Journal’s list of top woman owned businesses in the Charlotte Metro area. Jacque Sumner is the principal at the Sumner Group. The business was started in 1987 and did $1.83 million in revenue in 2025.

You may have seen the 1988 Daihatsu Atrai van parked in front of The Summitt in Mount Holly. That’s Black Sheep Coffee, and now they have a brick and mortar location at 104 South Main Street. Cleary’s Bookstore is also now in that location-great combination!

Cramerton to celebrate Lane Crotts Day
Tomorrow, Wednesday August 19th Cramerton is celebrating Lane Crotts Day. Cramerton Mayor Nelson Will has signed a Mayoral Proclamation honoring Lane as the 2025-2026 4A Individual State Individual Gold Champion.
During the 2025-2026 North Carolina High School Athletic Association 4A State Golf Championship Lane delivered one of the finest performances in North Carolina high school golf history. Lane shot an under par 64 in the final round to secure the championship, including birdies on the final 4 holes.
Lane’s final round of 64 is tied for the second lowest round in North Carolina Athletic Association state championship history, and his tournament total of 164 is tied for the 3rd lowest 36 hole score in state history.
Lane is the son of Andy and Kirby Crotts, and is a senior at Stuart W. Cramer High School.
Pete’s Fish Box closing…or for sale!
Pete’s Fish Box in Cherryville is closing. We always hate to see a small business close, especially because the owner(s) have put so much hard work and love, sweat, and tears into a business. They are hoping to find a buyer so that the Fish Box continues to operate beyond the present ownership. Interested? Check them out here…
