Actually, I don’t condone violence. But I also don’t condone online bullying or hate speech. I am always for creators, and for people trying to accomplish something positive.

Taco Bell coming to Stanley
Stanleyites- pretty soon you will be able to make a run for the border. Looks like a new Taco Bell is coming to Stanley at 601 Hwy 27. The company says the tainted lettuce has been removed from their stores…so there’s that.

Gateway Center LLC is suing Carolina Orthopaedic over alleged unpaid rent
Gateway Center LLC and developer Wes Bawab are suing Carolina Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine over unpaid rent. Gateway Center is in Mount Holly; CaroMont Orthopedic & Sports Medicine is in Gastonia.
Carolina Orthopaedic signed a lease in November of 2024, and took occupancy of the first floor as anchor tenant in April 2025. They vacated the space in May of this year, and joined CaroMont Health in June. They are now located at CaroMont Orthopedic & Sports Medicine at 2345 Court Drive in Gastonia.
Gateway Center alleges that Carolina Orthopaedic owes $25.000 in unpaid rent, and is asking for that amount plus court costs and accrued interest. Gateway also alleges that Carolina Orthopaedic damaged the property upon their exit.
Carolina Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine became part of CaroMont Health as of June 1 this year.
South Point Beach Access Park
South Point Beach Access Park has reopened
The South Point Beach Access was closed recently due to high levels of E. Coli in the water, according to Gaston County. But the park reopened this weekend as E. Coli levels were within acceptable limits, according to Adam Gaub, Communications Director for Gaston County.
South Point Access recreation area is a 68-acre park located at 175 Boat Launch Road in the South Point area of Belmont, has boat ramps, two large fishing piers, a swim beach, picnic pads, public parking and more. Park info.
Gaston County to allocate $5 million to schools
Gaston County Commissioners voted last Tuesday 4-3 to allocate an additional $5 million dollars to Gaston County Schools for the 2027 fiscal year.
The $5 million is designated for 4 distinct areas:
Keeping W.B. Beam Intermediate Open: $275,000 will maintain operations at the intermediate school through the 2026-27 school year while the school consolidation decision is pending.
State-Mandated Benefit Increases will be covered: $1.57 million should completely cover increases in health insurance premiums and retirement contributions for GCS employees as mandated by the state.

Jimbo’s Family Restaurant opens in Mount Holly
Jimbo’s Family Restaurant has opened in Mount Holly at 1127 West Charlotte Ave, in the former Billy’s BBQ space. Looks like a really good home town place-can’t wait to try it!
Owned by Jim and Lisa Simpson, they will be serving breakfast and lunch, dine in and carry out, Tuesday-Sunday 6:00am to 2:00pm.
Lil Dunks opening 2nd location
Lil Dunks is opening a second location at 3335 Union Road. They serve hot, fresh , glazed doughnuts, and also some very popular apple fritters.
They also have a location at 115 East First Street in Lowell.
