Gastonia Ghost Pepper’s season opener is April 24-but don’t park in the parking lot
It’s almost time for that opening pitch. Hot dogs, cold drinks, and a night out at the ballpark! Great fun- but don’t park in the parking lot. Turns our The Gas House Gang, owners of the now defunct Honey Hunters own the lot, and they have closed it.
You may remember that the the City of Gastonia kicked the Honey Hunters out of the stadium, and they have been involved in a lawsuit ever since. So, until this is resolved, where can you park? Parking is available at the Adult Recreation Center 519 West Franklin Blvd, and also at Covenant United Methodist Church at 801 West Franklin Blvd. There is a lot beside Durty Bull Brewing, and street parking.

Local Country Clubs doing well
It seems like not that long ago, Country Clubs were struggling. But evidently now all that has changed, and country clubs are golden once again. According to a recent Charlotte Business Journal article, almost all of the Charlotte Metro area clubs are doing well, albeit some more than others.
Gaston County Country Club’s 2024 revenue was up 2.4 % to $7,795,783. They are the 7th largest club in the Charlotte Metro area.
Cramer Mountain Country Club’s revenue was up 10.9% to $3,885,971, and they are the 14th largest club in the Charlotte Metro region.
Strawberry Stroll this Saturday April 18th
In Dallas, North Carolina…the “Strawberry Stroll” kicks off April 18th at Lineberger’s Farm as one of the most memorable events of the spring in this town just west of Charlotte! Running from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM at 906 Dallas Stanley Hwy, this full-day event is packed with fresh strawberries and farm fun. You can head out into the fields for you-pick strawberries, then stroll through a busy vendor market filled with local goods. Food trucks like King of Fire and Lilly Monster Burritos keep things going, along with sweet stops like Fizzy Creations, Sunset Slush, and Crumbs & Co. Bakery. Live music by Raphael Graves plays from 11 AM to 2 PM while you shop, eat, and relax. Lineberger’s Farm is a fourth-generation family farm known for pick-your-own crops and its farm store. Expect strawberry treats, photo spots, and a laid-back spring day outdoors at one of North Carolina's favorite little family farms!
Gastonia Conference Center
Gastonia wants a hotel next to the Conference Center
The City of Gastonia is seeking proposals to build a 100 room hotel next to the Conference Center in downtown. Currently guests can stay at the Esquire Hotel downtown, but the hotel only has 35 rooms, not enough for large conventions.
The Conference Center was built with a section on the second level that can connect to a hotel. The hotel would be built in a vacant lot adjacent to the Conference Center.
The addition of another hotel in downtown, especially one connected to the Conference Center is a great idea. It will bring even more people downtown, and support restaurants, coffee shops, bars, music venues..and baseball!

Pelican’s Training Facility moving to Mount Holly
Pelicans Training Facility is moving into the old Metro Print building at 800 West Central Ave. in Mount Holly.
