Pharr Completes Dynamo 31 BuildingMcAdenville's Pharr has completed the Dynamo 31 building, which offers 20,000 square feet of adaptive-reuse office space. A substantial portion of the building is already leased, with only 6,800 square feet remaining available. The former Pharr Yarns mill is near the Pharr headquarters in downtown McAdenville. The Catawba Riverkeeper is the first tenant, with Custom Physical Therapy & Fitness coming soon.Across the street, the former McAden Mill #3 building is also undergoing renovation by Pharr. A new roof is being completed as well as flooring repairs in the 40,000 square foot building. The building is expected to host retail, restaurant and entertainment tenants.
Several Gaston neighborhoods make top-selling listSeveral Gaston County neighborhoods made the Charlotte area's top selling list, reported by the Charlotte Business Journal.Coming in at #10 in Mount Holly was Imagery at Mountain Island Lake by Lennar Homes. They closed 148 homes in 2021 at an average sale price of $453,337.Nolen Farms by Meritage Homes in Gastonia came in at #12 with 136 homes closed in 2021, at an average sales price of $327,551.Interestingly, but not in Gaston County, The Farm at Ingleside in Iron Station by DR Horton came in at #9 with 150 homes closed in 2021. Their average price was $398,350.
Gastonia Bed Bath & Beyond not closing..at least for nowBed Bath & Beyond is planning to close 150 stores nationwide in an effort to stabilize their financial situation. So far they have released a list of several dozen of their lower performing locations that are closing. The closest one to Gaston County- at least to date- is the store in the Arboretum in Charlotte.

Upcoming meeting on Belmont developmentTurnstone Group LLC wants to build a 600 home community in Belmont. The development would be on 275 acres on South Point Road.The city has not approved the project, but if the builder meets all city requirements, the city cannot turn them down. In North Carolina, people have a right to sell and develop their own property.The project has caused some controversy and excitement in the Belmont Community. The meeting is scheduled for October 18th at 6 PM at the First United Methodist Church in Belmont. That address is 807 South Point Road.

The buzz is that someone else is taking over and remodeling.Booja Korean Restaurant is under new ownership.They are fammily owned, and serve a variety of Korean and Japanese food. They also have lunch specials, and deliver in a five mile radius. More...Evidently Brixx Pizza had permanently closed. The Gastonia location is not listed on the Brixx Pizza website.

W.A. Bess Elementary earns National Blue Ribbon award
297 schools in the U.s. earned the National Blue Ribbon Award from the Department Education. Four were earned in North Carolina, an W. A. Bess Elementary in Gastonia was one of those.The award is given based on academic performance or closing the gap between academic subgroups.W.A. Gastonia plans free bulk trash pickupTe week of September 19th Gastonia residents will have access to free bulk pickup at their homes. That meas items like mattresses, lawn mowers, furniture,and other items that won't fit in city garbage bins can be left at the curb.The city waives its fees for bulk trash collection; typically, residents pay $15 for items weighing up to 100 pounds or $25 for items weighing more than that.

This timely book delivers a “deeply reported, deeply moving” account of everyday heroes fighting on the front lines of the overdose crisis.

As of Thursday, September 15th, Gaston County has 10 reported cases of Monkeypox. Gaston County has received the vaccine used to prevent Monkeypox and is vaccinating individuals who meet eligibility criteria. Vaccine eligibility information can be found on the NC Monkeypox website.
