Project Box and Project Precise are both described in county documents as being manufacturing and distribution operations.Project Box is the smaller of the two; County documents stating "to relocate, design and up-fit one existing building used for manufacturing and distribution."  Project Box is expected to be a $2.5 million dollar investment.Project Precise is looking at a $4 million investment "to design and build additional buildings to increase its manufacturing and distribution facility in Gaston County," according to County documents The project is expected to create 31 jobs in the county over the next year, with an average annual wage of $58,871. Tennis tournament still coming to Charlotte? Maybe...I am hoping that Charlotte is able to put together a package that will entice Beemok Capital to move the Western & southern Tennis Tournament here from Cincinnati. It would be built in the River District, adjoining Gaston County just across the Catawba River. The recently released State budget included $20 million for the tennis center. That's great, but it was $5 or $10 million short of what backers had hoped for. Backers are trying to raise $125 to $130 million for 1/3 of the construction costs, with Beemok Capital paying the rest. The Western & Southern Open is among a handful of tournaments outside the four major championships that features the top men’s and women’s players.

Major League Baseball coming to Charlotte? There are currently 30 major league teams, and it looks like MLB is considering  expanding to 32. The cities being considered are Nashville, Montreal, Charlotte, Salt Lake City and Portland as likely expansion sites.A number of factors are at play, but foremost is the  fact that no person or investment group has expressed interest in bringing an expansion team here. If  you have the $2 Billion for the franchise fee, and another couple billion for a stadium, popcorn machines and a stock of Ball Park Franks, then throw your hat into the ring!
