New York Butcher Shoppe-Wine bar close to opening


The New York Butcher Shoppe-Wine Bar in Belmont is looking at a mid-November opening. Located at 100 Bryant Street, on the corner of McCloud near Main, they will offer premium cuts of meat, seasoned and stuffed meats, prepared meals, prepared salad and side dishes, crafted deli sandwiches, and a large wine selection.

Sold out disco murder mystery a rousing success!
The Gaston County Museum of Art & History's disco murder mystery event on Satuday was a great success. The event was held at Loray Mill and was sold out.Big things are happening at the Museum!

The first is at the home of Isaac Vargas at 113 Scaleybark Court in Mount Holly. Check out his video here. This display gets bigger and better every year.The second is called Skeletons for St. Jude, and is located at 115 Airport Road in Stanley. Children get free candy, and there is a smoke show Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights.


Mount Holly celebrates two new murals
Yesterday Mount Holly celebrated two new murals. Above left is "Catawba River" by Thomas Thoune and Patrick Robinson. It's at the Truist Bank at 150 South Main Street in Mount Holly.Above right is "Rise" by Sarah and Andrew McWilson. The mural is located at Ida Rankin Elementary School at 301 West Central Ave. in Mount Holly.

So I am seeing various reports of a black bear in Stanley behind the old Bi-Lo and near Auten Circle. If this is your bear, please keep it in your yard.Seriously, I hope nothing happens to the bear. Hopefully it can be moved to a less populated area.

Waterbean Coffee Exquisite set to open
Owner Tony Vo says Waterbean Coffee Exquisite will open in the next week or so. The Gastonia location is the first of its kind, and will feature a multi-course coffee tasting experience. They will also have a full bar.They are located at 618 West Franklin Blvd., in the FUSE District.

Not in Gaston County, but a day trip away, is the Wilderness Run Alpine Coaster. Looks like a lot of fun! Riders can control the speed of the sleds, which can reach 29 miles per hour. They are open pretty much everyday- check here before you go.

Arts on the Greenway is building a labyrinth
Local non-profit Arts on the Greenway in Mount Holly is building a labyrinth. It will be located next to the Arts on the Greenway building and across from the Citizens Center on South Alexander Street.Pastor Kara Stewart of Good Shepherd Lutheran is part of the group spearheading the project. "A labyrinth is a pattern that there's one way in, and you take that same path out," she said. "A maze is meant for you to get lost. A labyrinth is designed for you to be found, and to find yourself, and to find your center.
