Back Yard Burgers Is BackFormer Panthers wide receiver Mushin Muhammed is part of a group bringing a new concept of Yard Burgers back to Gastonia. Back Yard Burgers was here earlier, in the space now occupied by Five Guys on Franklin, but they closed in 2012. The new restaurant opened yesterday with a new and improved menu, including new burgers -Mac N Cheese, Bacon Avocado, and Honey BBQ. They are located at 3415 East Franklin Blvd. in Gastonia.

Will you have to help pay Duke's $490 Million Dollar Coal Ash cleanup bill?North Carolina regulators completed hearings on Friday on due's proposed rate hike, with regulators asking why Duke didn't aggressively pursue coal ash cleanup until they were forced to by state and federal regulations. A ruling is expected in December.The underlying rate hike is 7%. Duke feels that since they did what was required by law, that they should be able to pass those costs on to consumers.

Lawrence is the current qb for Clemson, if you have living under a rock.

Bed Bath & Beyond is closing 200 stores over the next 2 years, including the store at Concord Mills. The Gastonia store is scheduled to remain open at this time.

Yay! Estia's Kouzina in Belmont is open again! If you haven't been, they are one of the best restaurants in Gaston County! So glad we didn't lose them!

Gaston county Commissioners to discuss $100m warehouse project

Tonight commissioners will discuss a $100 million dollar warehouse project in Kings Mountain. The project is code named "project Triple Play", and it calls for an unnamed company to invest $100 million to build a distribution center by the end of 2022. The board will hold a public hearing to discuss a level 4 incentive grant.The majority of Kings Mountain is in Cleveland County, but a small part of eastern Kings Mountain is in Gaston County.

Maddox Ritch's death sparks FBI ChangesIt was two years ago that 6 year old Maddox Rich went missing while out walking with his dad and his dad's girlfriend in Rankin Lake Park off 321 in Gastonia. Maddox, who was autistic, was later found dead in Long Creek.As a result of that experience, an FBI special agent has developed a one page questionnaire especially for use in the case of missing children that have autism. The  questionnaire will be distributed to the FBI's Child Abduction Rapid Deployment teams. More...
