The Cramerton Army Cloth “Khaki” is prominently displayed. Furthermore, the mural features a World War II Era Women Airforce Service Pilot (WASP) member dressed in Cramerton’s own Khaki uniform.

Franklin Yards project coming to FUSE District
A company affiliated with Highline Partners recently acquired a 6 acre tract at 615 West Franklin Boulevard in Gastonia for just over $2 million. The developer says the property will be for a mixed use development called Franklin Yards.The project is expected to include 250 market rate apartments, and 5,300 square feet of commercial space. The project is expected to cost north of $50 million, and be completed in 2026.

1950's wedding at Stowe Manor

Imagine this… A wedding set in the 1950’s from the top of the Grand Collande (staircase). The Bride is so bashville, hiding in the background. How beautiful is she? What were they all thinking? This is one of hundreds of weddings held here. Cheers to many more! Once we figure all this out. We moved into this Big Ol House three weeks ago. It’s been a challenge to figure it out. We hope to reopen to the public in some reinvented capacity in late 2024-2025, but please give us space as we sort things out.According to the owner, they will host some bridal/portrait settings and tv/movie set opportunities in 2024. They may start outdoor weddings and events in 2026. The gardens may be finished by then and would be available for events.
Lineberger Farm patriarch passesHarold Reid Lineberger (pictured at right with his wife Patsy) passed away last week.Lineberger was a Korean war veteran and with Rutherford Electric for 30 years. Having earned a degree in animal husbandry at NC State, he was best known for his farms: Maple Springs Farm in Dallas, and Berry Hill Farm in Iron Station.Over the years his bee friendly certified farm was visited by strawberry and pumpkin fans and multitudes of school children.Obituary

Mountain Island Hydroelectric Station celebrates 100 years
Duke Energy's Mountain Island Hydroelectric Station turned 100 last month. The plant continues to produce clean power, even after 100 years of operation. And it is expected to keep operating far into the future.Today it only takes two employees to man the station, as it is remotely operated since 2005 by the Duke Energy renewable energy operations center in uptown Charlotte. The plant produces enough power for approximately 7,600 homes.

No, that's not a picture of your mother-in-law. That's the new lobby exhibit at the Schiele Museum in Gastonia. As visitors open the front doors, they will be greeted by the large fossil cast of a Quetzalcoatlus feeding its young.
After over 20 years in the lobby, The Schiele’s iconic T-rex was dismantled in June. The museum plans to update the pose and look of the T-rex to better reflect recent discoveries and include it in a new dinosaur experience slated to open in 2025.
