I am a fan of art and history in pretty much any form. In May the Gaston County Commissioners cut the budget for the Gaston County Museum of Art & History by 32%, and now they are considering selling the Mary Ellen Nelson Center, where the Museums archives are housed. The Gaston County Museum of Art and History, like the Daniel Stowe Conservatory and the Gaston Aquatics Center now being built, is a Gaston County gem. The Museum has it going on-their Ghost Tours are all but sold out already, and the Fireside Chats sold out last year in 24 hours, and will this year. They have spectacular art exhibits like the Nellie Ashford exhibit, the Tony's Ice Cream exhibit and so much more...The Museum has so much positive momentum right now; I am glad I live in a county with such a great resource. Ali Pizza and team are doing an amazing job and we are lucky to have them.My hope is that Gaston County government gets on board with this positive inertia and finds ways to support the Museum.Today's weather: Pleasant with plenty of sunshine, breezy in the afternoon. Bar-B-Q King to close
Looks like the Bar-B-Q King on Wilkinson Boulevard in Charlotte is closing. It's been there a long time-since 1959. Charlotte City planning says there is a proposed FNB Bank at the same location. We need more banks...not.

The trolls are coming!
The trolls are coming, alas, not to Gaston County..but close enough! Thomas Dambo is bringing 19 trolls to North Carolina, and one is coming to Charlotte.
These sculptures are made from recycled materials and are designed to be hidden, encouraging people to go on a treasure hunt to find them.
The Charlotte troll is expected to be constructed in October or November.
Waterbean Coffee is officially open in GastoniaWaterbean Coffee opened last week in Gastonia in the FUSE District. They have a coffee tasting room, and a kitchen where they will be making pastries and such in-house. They are located at 612 West Franklin Blvd. in Gastonia.I'll have to say- it's pretty spectacular. No threadbare couches and chairs or wobbly coffee tables...more like an upscale Apple store.
