Gastonia Ballpark looking great-2 new projects break ground
Much of the seating and multipurpose field appears to be completed-very exciting! Two other projects are under way in the FUSE district. The first in the revitalization of the Trenton Mill building into 89 loft apartments. The second is a 5000 square foot space attached to the Coca Cola building which will be occupied by Durham based Durty Bull Brewing Company, which will also house the first restaurant in the FUSE district.

Gov. Roy Cooper’s administration is negotiating with the Catawba Nation tribe on a plan to offer gambling at a new casino near Kings Mountain. The gaming compact would specify the types of games allowed, and how much the tribe would send the state. Those plans are part of a lawsuit brought by by the Eastern Band of the Cherokee Indians, which opposes the new casino.

Rock slide Blocks Section of Blue Ridge ParkwaySunday's wind and rain continue to impact the Parkway. Park staff discovered a rock slide earlier this afternoon, near Milepost 340 that is blocking both lanes. Expect this area to be closed through the weekend. Visitors will need to find alternate routes via Hwy 80.

Corona virus cases rocket in Gaston County
23 Gaston County People Have died of Covid-19 since last TuesdayActive cases have shot up from 1645 to 2073. To date 5,695 have recovered, and we have had 7,910 positive tests. 142 people have died in Gaston County from the virus. The largest group of positive cases are in the 25-49 age group.
