City of Gastonia sues to get Honey Hunters out of stadiumThe City of Gastonia is asking the Court to terminate the Honey Hunter's possession of the stadium, and to also award monetary damages. The Honey Hunters have been kicked out of the Atlantic League for non-payment. The City alleges that the team defaulted on it's naming rights obligation, and also failed to make a payment which caused gas service to the stadium to be interrupted, which caused the generator to shut off. The City incurred for a repair and diagnostic service to the generator as a result. The City also alleges that maintenance of the stadium has been extremely poor. “This is not a cosmetic criticism, but rather a troubling pattern of improper maintenance which will diminish the life expectancy and value of the premises,” court documents state.GA hopes that we get a new team, a new responsible owner iwth deep pocktets, and a new regionally appropriate name for the team. We also think the FUSE idea is a good one, and can still be a source of pride for Gaston County.
Hope for the Holidays returns
After serving more than 1,200 children last year, The Lighthouse Children’s Advocacy Center will host ‘Hope for the Holidays (PDF)’ for its second year, with the aim of serving even more members of the Gaston County community in need.
Last year’s effort was sparked by a $50,000 ‘Secret Santa,’ which led to more than $20,000 in additional giving from businesses and community members. That same Secret Santa has pledged another $50,000 for 2023, and is encouraging the community to rally around those less fortunate to make their holiday season a bit brighter.
In addition to providing financial contributions, community members can help by purchasing items on the Hope for the Holidays wish list. All gifts must be dropped off by December 4.
In addition, businesses can participate by hosting collection drives for items or financial donations. The Lighthouse is also seeking volunteers to help with the distribution and shopping days in December. Individuals or businesses interested in contributing can learn more by emailing Heather Kauffman.
The Lighthouse will have two shopping days open to those in the community that need help for their children for the holidays.
Shopping days:

Frank Reich is out as head coach
Frank Reich was relieved of his duties yesterday by owner David Tepper. Reich was coach for just 11 games. The Panthers are 1-10, with the worst record in the leagueReich was hired in January of this year; interim coach Steve Wilks was not hired and is now the defensive coordinator with the San Francisco 49ers.

Not many:*Offensive Linebacker Brian Burns, 4 tackles, 1 sack, 2 QB hits*Defensive Tackle Derrick Brown: 5 tackles, one pass defensed*Running Back Chuba Hubbard: 14 carries, 45 yards, rushing touchdown, 5 receptions, 47 receiving yards. The Panthers play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Tampa this Sunday at 4:05 PM
