Good morning- David here. Today is Tuesday November 24th. We are staying home for Thanksgiving instead of traveling to see my sister and mom, because of the virus,  and that makes me sad. But I am thankful for my wife, my life, and being healthy.It has also been an especially hard year for small business. When you can, make every effort to include a local small business in your gift planning. Amazon really doesn't need your money, and and it could make a big difference to one of your neighbors.Happy Thanksgiving!

McAdenville lights ready to glow

The season continues to shine brightly in Christmas Town USAas well. In its 65th year of bringing nostalgia to the holidays, Christmas Town USA comes to life in McAdenville, N.C., on Dec. 1. Its lights twinkle nightly through Dec. 26 with a variety of safety measures included this year, such as a shortened designated route and removing lit areas where visitors often congregate. Traditions may be trimmed in 2020, but Christmas Town’s street will dance in merriment with thousands of illuminated red, green and white lights. Planning to visit?

They are opening 24 hour locations at Loves Travel Stops in as many as 40 locations, including Cordele Georgia, Oklahoma and Mississippi.In other news, Biscuitville, a family owned chain out of Greensboro, will open it's first Charlotte area location in late fall on Derita Road near Concord Mills Mall.

2nd Medical School in Charlotte?Novant and UNC Health have announced a branch campus in Charlotte.

The deal would involve expansion of UNC School of Medicine's Kenan Primary Care Medical Scholars Program, which helps train students to work in rural and/or undeserved areas.  It also offers cohort-based experiences, an option for an international trip and opportunities for community immersion.

UNC's clinical trials and research are also expected to bring more treatment options for patients in the Charlotte Metro area.

Danny Jackson retires as Mount Holly City Manager

Danny Jackson has retired after 33 years of service to the City of Mount Holly. He was also awarded the Order of the Long Leaf Pine, North Carolina's highest civilian award. Jackson has received many notable awards over the years, and was known for his gracious  and patient personality. He will be sorely missed. Miles Braswell, currently Assistant City Manager, will assume the City Manager role.

Gastonia native and former Gaston Day star Nate Hinton is set to sign with the Dallas Mavericks. Hinton was not taken in the NBA draft, but agreed to a two-way deal with the Mavericks.

“I am honored to have been chosen by the Dallas Mavericks,” Hinton said. “I’ve got my foot in the door, and I was hungry but now I’m hungrier. It will be a true blessing, and I thank the coaching staff and administrators for their faith in my ability.”
