Did you see the Beaver Moon? The Beaver Moon was seen partially eclipsed last Friday in Gaston County skies.
The partial eclipse of the full moon was the longest of this century, and in fact was the longest of its kind in 580 years.
What is the meaning of the Beaver Moon?
The Beaver Moon is a native American name for the November full moon. This is because November is seen as the time that the Beavers, nature's architects, start to retreat into their lodges, ready for the colder weather. This year was unusual because it coincided with a lunar eclipse, a rare phenomenon that occurs when the moon appears darkened as it moves into the Earth’s shadow.
