Belmont Drive-In reopening...eventually
We told you last week that the Belmont Drive-in may be reopening. Well, not maybe, it is reopening...eventually. The original owners have passed away and their children are working to bring the drive-in back.The owners have bought a digital projector, and screen and other repairs are under way. So here is us being patient- but we're excited!

The Land of Oz was a fully functioning theme park that operated between 1970-1980. The brainchild of designer Jack Pentes and built by Grover Robbins and his brothers Harry and Spencer through their company Carolina Caribbean Corporation, Land of Oz would be a top-quality experience during its first five seasons. After a fire that was set to Emerald City in 1975, the park would be rebuilt under new management from the 1976 season until it closed in the fall of 1980.Currently, while Land of Oz is not a fully functioning theme park, it offers many public events that celebrate the magic and legacy of all things Oz!

The former Brixx Pizza at the corner of Cox Road and I-85 is now EJ's Soul Food & Vegan. Owner Dara Bess says she is just waiting on health department approval to open.EJ's will offer a classic soul food menu, but also vegan and vegan-curious dishes-yum!
Cherryville schools closed by storm have reopenedFour Gaston County schools were closed last Wednesday and Thursday after severe storms swept through the Cherryville area last Tuesday evening. The schools affected were Cherryville Elementary, W. Blaine Beam Intermediate, John Chavis Middle, and Cherryville High School. All activities, including classes, were canceled, but have since reopened.
