Olde Mecklenburg Brewery still committed to Mount HollyOMB's John Marino says work on the Mount Holly location of their popular brewery should begin late this year, with completion slated for late 2025 or early 2026.OMB bought the former site of the Mount Holly water treatment plant(since demolished) at 725 Elm Street. The parcel overlooks the Catawba River where Dutchman's Creek joins. They plan to build a 5000 square foot facility which will include a biergarten.
Wild Wing Cafe fights for it's corporate life, Gastonia store still openWild Wing Cafe is trying to keep the bankruptcy administrator from converting their Chapter 11 bankruptcy to a Chapter 7, which would effectively close and liquidate the business. The motion filed by the Administrator claims gross mismanagement, failure to file timely reports, and failure to pay taxes.In a May 14 filing, Wild Wing says a reorganization plan has been filed which wold result in "meaningful recovery for all creditors." Reportedly, the lease for the Gastonia store has been renegotiated, but if the store doesn't return to profitability, it could still close.

Walton Global acquires Gastonia tract for Springhaven II projectWalton Global has acquired a 143 acre tract near Beatty and New Hope Roads in Gastonia, near Forestview High School.According to County real estate records, the firm paid $3.1 million for the tract. The site has been zoned for single family homes, and is part of the Springhaven master-planned community.
