Today is May 10, 2022. If you are a mother, I hope you had the best Mother's Day ever!We are on day 5 of our summer driveabout. Day one was Anderson S.C.. Day two was to Griffin Ga. to visit relatives-we stayed at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Day three we stayed overnight in Ocala Fl., and then on to Fort Myers Fl. to visit relatives, eat seafood, and sit on the beach-with a pitcher of frozen drinks!

Life of Pie gets new name, new ownerGaston County restaurateur Tony Copploa has bought pizza place Life of Pie in downtown Gastonia. It will be renamed Mangiamo Pizza.Coppola says the piizza dough will be fresh made in-house. They will also serve Italian subs, Philly Cheese Steak, and cannoli and calamari.Coppola also owns Mangiamo, a more formal restaurant in downtown Gastonia, in the site of the former Spindle City Cafe.

The legacy of the Fish Camp
Don Lineberger Jr., grandson of the founders of Lineberger's Fish Fry, will present a program about the history of Fish Camps in Gaston County and share pictures and family memories. This free program is recommended for teens and adults. No registration is required.
Flu and COVID numbers
Former Gastonia Central Branch YMCA site to be redevelopedThe former Central Branch YMCA site in Gastonia is being redeveloped by Charlotte-based Highline Partners. The 6 acre parcel will eventually boast 220 plus multifamily units, and another building with commercial space. The building with commercial space will have office space and two food/beverage spaces.The project is adjacent to the FUSE District and CaroMont Health Park, and is expected to be completed in 2025.
Kings Mountain continues to land industrial projectsPanattoni Development Co. has purchased 125 acres of Woodlake Parkway, near Exit 8 off of I-85 in Kings Mountain. They plan to build 4 industrial buildings simultaneously, totaling 925,740 square feet.The buildings are expected to be completed in 2023. This project is one of many trying to capitalize on the access to I-85 as Charlotte grows outward.
Citizen journalist arrested while filming the aftermath of an accident in DallasThomas Reid was filming a traffic accident in Dallas NC, when his camera was taken away, and he was arrested. Here is a video that shows the incident, as well as comments by a former FBI agent and Federal Prosecutor.
