Olde Meckelnburg Brewery still planned for Mount Holly
Owner John Marrino says a late 2024 opening of an Olde Mecklenburg Brewery location is moving forward. “We had to revisit things because the costs have gone way up. I think we’re close to getting where we need to be on that,” he adds.OMB purchased the old Mount Holly water treatment plant on the Catawba river, as the future site of OMB, although the existing structure has been torn down. They plan to build a new 5000 square foot retail facility, as well as a warehouse facility in a separate Mount Holly location.
River District plans groundbreakingCrescent Communities has made major infrastructure and utility progress in the River District, which is just across the Catawba River from Gaston County in Mecklenburg County. The River District is a massive mixed use project that some are comparing to Ballantyne.Shown above, Westrow will be a 70 acre mixed use community that will be part of the River District.
CaroMont Health's new Belmont hospital driving growth
Like a stone thrown into a pond, the new CaroMont Health hospital is causing an economic ripple in Eastern Gaston County, and especially Mount Holly. The development hopes to benefit from the growth of Belmont and Mount Holly, but also form the new River District mentioned in the article above.Some of the associated projects are:* A Fairfield Inn & Suites has already been completed in what's being called the Gateway Area.* Gateway Center will be a new medical office park that is scheduled to include two 62,000 square foot buildings.*Mount Holly Medical Park will include several buildings, and two tenants have committed to 20,000 square foot buildings there.The hospital itself will be 265,000 square feet, with another 100,000 square foot CaroMont medical office building and outpatient surgery center.
Northlake Mall loses another storeLike shopping at Northlake?Buckle, which listed itself as a "denim destination" has a sign posted that lets customers know their last day was Sunday the 26th of March. The struggling mall also recently lost the Apple store, and their occupancy rate was 71%
