Governor Cooper orders all schools closed (including Gaston County) until May 15. Kids rejoice, parents not so much. This will be a different and difficult time for many parents, as some have to find child care, and some are trying to work from home as the kids romp through the office or by the kitchen table. Those kids fortunate enough to have laptops or iPads may still be able to work on assignments; hopefully arrangements are being made for those without.

Christmas in March?McAdenville has decided to bring back some of their Christmas lights to provide some cheer during this difficult time, although 65% of the lights have already been removed. The lights will be on through the end of March.
Speaking of Christmas in MarchAlthough some of us would rather pull our fingernails out with pliers, Hallmark is currently running a Christmas movie marathon now through Sunday at 6 PM. That's 27 movies where the guy or girl goes back to their hometown to fall back in love with their high school sweetheart, with some snow and tears thrown in for good measure. It's mush, not at all like those Shakespearean Jason Borne flicks.
The Little Theater of Gastonia is delaying the presentation of Mama Mia! until September. They are still planning to hold the summer camp featuring Moana, Jr. , although they are suspending registration for now.They hope to hold summer camp as scheduled if this crisis passes.
