. Today is June 28 2022.
We are now about 7 1/2 weeks into our summer drive about. We spent most of last week in Montrose, Colorado. I love movies, old signs, and old theaters. Montrose has a beautiful old theater called the Fox, and the neon outside, the tile work inside, were just beautiful! We saw Top Gun: Maverick...recommend if you're a fan!

4th of July Celebrations- some on the 4th!Whitewater Center
Celebrate the holiday outside at the Whitewater Center. The festivities span over two days include live music, races, multiple yoga practices, and more.
Due to multiple abrupt changes in the firework permitting process prescribed by Mecklenburg County and the City of Charlotte, the Whitewater Center will no longer feature a fireworks display on Sunday, July 3rd or Monday, July 4th, 2022.Gastonia, Rotary Pavillion:Monday, July 4th 5-9:30 PMCome out to downtown Gastonia on Monday, July 4 from 5:00 PM - 9:30 PM! Gaston County has no reports of Monkeypox...yetThe State of North Carolina and Mecklenburg County both have reported cases of Monkeypox. So far, as of press time, Gaston County has not.Monkeypox has nothing to do with monkeys, other than being discovered in research monkeys in 1958. Monkeypox is a rare disease caused by infection with the monkeypox virus. Monkeypox is part of the same family of viruses as smallpox. Monkeypox symptoms are similar to smallpox symptoms but milder; and monkeypox is rarely fatal.

Kings Mountain casino to add sportsbookCatawba Two Kings Casino will be adding a sports book in the next few months. according to casino management. This will be in addition to the pre-launch facility already in operation. They expect to have the operation live by the time football season begins.
Another company coming to Gaston County's Apple Creek Corporate ParkRankin USA, which currently has a facility in Bessemer City, is building a new 30,000 square foot facility in Gaston County's Apple Creek Corporate Park. The company plans to invest over $5 million in the move.
Piedmont Lithium looking for product elsewhere...for nowPiedmont Lithium is looking to secure product in Canada and Ghana to fulfill contracts, while their Gaston County project appears to be bogged down on a number of fronts.The company says it has invested $58 million in the Gaston County project over a number of years. But they only presented their project to the county last summer- to intense push-back. The company had expected to begin deliveries between July of this year and next summer.
