CaroMont Health breaks ground on new Belmont HospitalCaroMont Health broke ground last Tuesday on a new hospital to be constructed at the intersection of Hwy 273 and I-85.The facility will have 66 beds, and a 16 room emergency department with a helipad. The facility is slated to open mid 2023.

The Boathouse opens in McAdenville

Northlake Mall in trouble?A receiver has been appointed for NorthLake Mall, after debt payments allegedly failed to be made. A lawsuit filed

alleges the borrower hasn't kept up with debt payments on the properties.Dick's Sporting Goods lease expired in January, and the store has permanently closed.

The Charlotte Business Journal counted more than a dozen empty storefronts at Northlake in late February.

Honolulu is callingHawaii is a 10 hour flight away- and you can fly from Charlotte Douglas. American Airlines has been flying a 777-200 daily to Hawaii since June 2.  One bummer- Hawaii currently mandates a 10-day quarantine for individuals traveling to the island domestically, including residents and fully vaccinated travelers.

 2 Gaston County people died of Covid since last Tuesday2 families have lost a loved one since last Tuesday to Covid.  So far Gaston County has lost 441 people to the virus. Right now we have 2 people on a vent, 20 people hospitalized, and have had 26,883 total cases.

In North Carolina, 54% of adults have received at least one dose of the vaccine — behind the national rate of 63%.New Delta Variant

The new  Delta variant — which appears to be both more contagious and more severe than earlier versions of the virus — is spreading rapidly within the U.S., after having first been identified in India. It now accounts for about 10 percent of cases, according to Dr. Scott Gottlieb, a former F.D.A. commissioner.

Love you some Bojangles?Bojangles is about to be available in more states. They plan to open 25 restaurants in the Dallas-Fort Worth and Houston  areas. In addition, in an agreement with a franchisee, Bojangles will also open 45 new restaurants in Florida and Ohio.Meanwhile, back in North Carolina, competitors Slim Chickens and Biscuitville are both opening restaurants in the Charlotte Metro area.
