It looks like the New York Butcher Shoppe & Wine Bar being built in Belmont is on track for a late summer early fall opening. They just had the plumbing and gas rough in quoted, so they are moving along.They are located at the corner of Bryant Street and McCloudAvenue in Belmont.

New park honoring Ransom Hunter in Mount Holly almost complete Ransom Hunter Park in Mount Holly is scheduled to be open mid-August. The park honors Ransom Hunter, the first freed African American in Gaston County to become a property owner.Hunter was born into slavery, and freed in his late 30's. The park is located where Hunter's home once stood. The park is themed with references to Hunter's stable and blacksmith shop.The new park is located at the intersection of Glendale Avenue and Hawthorne Road in Mount Holly.

Time is ticking, 2025/26 enrollment for exchange students is rapidly coming to a close! If you or somebody you know of can host, please reach out!! 🚨 Hosting a foreign exchange student was such an amazing experience for our family, and we can’t wait to welcome our next student! Our young daughter LOVED the experience, as did our teenagers. We know several “empty nesters” that enjoy hosting as well. We currently have over 250 kids still in need of a volunteer Host Family so they can do an exchange year in the USA. Bo the bloodhound visits Levine Children's hospitalThe Gastonia Police Department's famous Bo the bloodhound visited the Levine Children's Hospital recently. Bo got petted, had plenty of tail wags, and made lots of kids happy. The event was live streamed at the hospital, allowing kids that were bedridden to take part.
Bo, his handler Sgt. David Rowland, K-9 trainer Ryan Huneycutt, Asst. Chief Nancy Brogdon, and Police Chief Trent Conard,all took part in a question-and-answer session that took place in the hospital’s Seacrest Studio.
Piedmont Lithium puts Kings Mountain site up for salePiedmont Lithium has put a 60.6 acre site in Kings Mountain up for sale. The site was originally intended to house a conversion plant for Piedmont's Carolina Lithium project in Gaston County. Piedmont say they no longer need the site in view of the plans for an integrated site in Gaston County. Current Gaston County plans are on what the company calls "a conservative timeline".Piedmont is merging with Sayona Mining, to form a new Australia based firm called Elevra Lithium.
