Duke energy and Dominion abandon the Atlantic Coast Pipeline
The $8 billion dollar, 600 mile pipeline is dead. Dominion announced separately that it was selling it's gas transmission business to Berkshire Hathaway. The cancellation may also have to do with the fact that the 4th Circuit Court of appeals has ruled against the pipeline on every challenge to their permits brought before the court. The pipeline was opposed by sixteen environmental groups and two private owners. Dominion will continue to operate Dominion Energy North Carolina, based in Gastonia.
