Former Sleepy Poet location to become youth therapy centerCompleat KiDZ, a company that helps children with developmental delay and learning disorders, is taking over the former location of the Sleepy Poet in downtown Gastonia.Formerly the S.H. Kress Five and Dime Building, the building has four floors of approximately 10,000 square feet each. The building was built in 1956.Compleat KiDZ plans on doing extensive renovations, while keeping the 1950's vibe. We think they will make a great addition to downtown!

The Riverview Inn is no more...All that is left of the Riverview Inn is the memories. Generations of kids and their parents ate fried seafood and visited with 6'4" peg legged Captain Windy. No word on what is to become of the property, although it is in a prime location.

Proposed townhomes blockedAtlanta based Kaplan Residential had their petition to re-zone part of Cramer Woods for townhomes denied by the Gastonia Planning Commission. Kaplan can appeal on or before January 21.Many local residents were against the project, and attended the Planning Commission meeting.
