Seriously? Shelby woman wins lottery twice....Kenya Sloan of Shelby won $1 million dollars in August when she played the Carolina Jackpot game. In October she won $2 million playing a Diamond Dazzler ticket. After her win in August, Sloan bought property and is having a brand new home built. As for her $2 million dollar prize, she took home $855, 006 after taxes."I was just standing there in shock" said Sloan, I just feel blessed. That's all I can say." Sloan says she plans to open a Soul Food restaurant with her new winnings.

Apartments on Main Street Gastonia moving alongThere was a lot of controversy about putting apartments in downtown where the pocket park used to be. And while I am a proponent of almost any park anywhere, the 90 planned units being built by Keuster Development will bring folks downtown to support retail, restaurants, entertainment, and more. Gastonia needs this to get some more momentum downtown. Pre-leasing is expected to begin in September of this year.

Ending soon!

There was a rumor that a Cuban restaurant was going to take over the old Miles Cafeteria Restaurant in Gastonia...now we are hearing that it's not happening. We are told that the building is empty and available.

Panthers beat the Saints 10-7Eddie Pineiro drills 42 yard field goal as time expiresThe Saints had bigger numbers on Sunday, with the Saints out gaining Carolina 304 yards to 203. But New Orleans had trouble scoring on four possessions inside the Panthers 40 yard line. The Panther's only touchdown came when Sam Darnold fumbled in the end zone, only to have lineman Michael Jordan recover for the score. Eddie Pineiro kicked the game winning field goal with 3 seconds left. The game against the Saints didn't really count for anything, except pride, or to give Coach Wilks a boost in the job situation. Their record give them the 9th pick in the first round, actually they have 7 picks, all in the first 5 rounds.
