Mount Holly announces new police chief
Mount Holly, NC: Brian Reagan will officially begin his new role as Police Chief of the City of Mount Holly on August 1. Reagan has served as Deputy Chief of Police for the past eight years.
As a life-long resident of Belmont and Mount Holly, Chief Brian Reagan has a desire to see the community he was raised in grow and flourish. Chief Reagan has called Mount Holly home for over twenty years, and has a desire for Mount Holly to remain safe while keeping its small-town charm. Chief Reagan was called to serve as a police officer 21 years ago at the Mount Holly Police Department, where he has remained for the entirety of his career.
Over the course of his illustrious career, he has served on the Patrol Division as a Patrol Officer, K-9 handler, and Patrol Sergeant; the Investigations Division, as a Detective; and Administration, as the Deputy Chief of Police.
Chief Reagan has a formal education from Gaston College and Western Carolina University. He has also attended various training courses dealing with multiple facets of law enforcement to earn his Intermediate and Advanced Law Enforcement Certificates from the North Carolina Department of Justice.
City Manager Miles Braswell says, “Brian Reagan’s performance and experience over the past 21 years, as well as his professional and educational background, demonstrates his readiness to take on the position of Police Chief. He is a dedicated law enforcement professional who has earned the respect of his fellow officers. This is an exciting next step for our City.”

US Postal Service to take space in Gaston business parkThe U.S. Postal Service has confirmed that they will lease more than 600 thousand squarer feet in the Gateway85 business park between Gastonia and Lowell. The USPS say this is part of their Delivering for America Plan."Beginning this summer and continuing through the next year, USPS will create a new modern multi-functional distribution center in Gaston County that will improve service reliability, enhance the employee experience, and reduce our carbon footprint," USPS said in a statement. "Our new holistic approach to mail and package processing and delivery will enhance responsiveness to customer demands and position the Postal Service to deliver for America long into the future. We look forward to sharing more updates as our progress in Gaston County advances.”

Parks and Recreation Assistant needed The Town of Dallas is seeking a sports-minded individual to fill the position of Parks and Recreation Assistant. This position performs athletic and recreation program planning, coordination, facilitation, and administrative support of the Parks and Recreation Department. Excellent customer service skills are required. Applicant will assist in maintaining programs, facilities, and events under the direction of the Parks and Recreation Director. Considerable knowledge of resources, materials, game rules, equipment and facilities utilized in a public recreation program; including necessary maintenance of athletic fields and facilities is required; as well as operation of standard maintenance equipment (mowers, string trimmers, field drags, etc.). Work schedule will require frequent nights, weekends, and holidays. Graduation from a two-year college or university with an Associate’s degree in physical education, business administration, or a closely related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. A Bachelor’s degree with major course work in recreation administration, physical education, or related field and considerable experience in recreational programming is preferred. Possession of CPR and First Aid Certification to be obtained within 6 months of employment. Hiring range for this position is $39,188--$43,577 DOQ, with a 5% increase upon successful completion of a 6-month probationary period.
