Faith, Hope, and Love Community Enrichment Center shelter closesPastor Moses Colbert has been forced to stop using his church as a homeless shelter, due to fire and safety code violations. The church was sheltering between 20 and 40 men, women, and families nightly. Evidently, currently the City of Gastonia zoning regulations do not permit shelters, although the Salvation Army shelter was grandfathered in. GA is investigating.
Harold Varner lll wins Saudi International with a ridiculous eagle puttGastonia and Forestview's own Harold Varner beat Bubba Watson in a playoff at the Saudi International gof tournament. Varner made a ridiculous 50 foot putt in high winds to walk away with the trophy and a $1 million dollar prize.“I’m not mad at him for beating me,” said Watson, who ran out onto the green to celebrate with Varner, despite it costing him the tournament. “I’m happy for him. He’s a dear friend of mine, and I applaud him. I love seeing that. I cheer for him.”Congrats Harold!
Tyler Herndon Memorial Jeep Ride a success
The Tyler Herndon Memorial Foundation and the Thin Blue Line Jeep Ride Club held a memorial and fundraising event Sunday. Over 300 Jeeps participated to benefit the Tyler Herndon Memorial Foundation, which hopes to fund scholarships for students interested in becoming first responders. The school that will benefit are Kings Mountain (Tyler's alma mater), East Gaston, South Point, and Stuart Cramer.Video...
Biscuitville? Yes, please...If you have been to any Duke, Carolina, or NC State ball games, you have probably been to a Biscuitville. Kings Mountain and Lincolnton are both scheduled to get new Biscuitville restaurants in March...but so far not Gaston County. We have reached out to Biscuitville to see if Gaston County is on the list-we'll let you know!

The event was sponsored by the Jewish Federation of Greater Chattanooga, and the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Ascension. We think the link is still up here...MAUS has been in the news lately, as a book banned by a Texas school board. We doubt seriously that they actually read the graphic novel.
