Truist to close Belmont branchTruist has said they are closing six branches, including the one at 118 North Main Street in Belmont. Truist says no jobs were lost. The branch at 700 West King Street in Kings Mountain is also closing.

Lowe's and Petco to team upDo you take your dog to Lowe's? Did you know they allow dogs? Lowe's is teaming up with Petco to offer Petco pet supplies inside Lowe's stores. The pilot program will begin with a 1000 foot space in Alamo Ranch, Texas in February, and will roll out to 14 more stores in March.Lowe's already carries pet supplies, and say they have seen growth in that area that they want to capitalize on.

Got Jeep?We’re about a week away from the second annual Thin Blue Line Jeep Ride on February 6th!! Just Jeepin decided to do the first Thin Blue Line Jeep Ride last year as an additional way to honor Officer Tyler Herndon.
Last year’s event was a huge success, now making this an annual event. We’re thankful for their support and excited that they have decided to partner with us for this event.
There will be a $5 registration fee for participants driving a Jeep in the event. The foundation also has baskets full of awesome items from local businesses that will be raffled off. Raffle tickets will be $1 each and will be sold from 11-2 at the event, raffle winners will be announced at the end of the ride.
All proceeds from this event will be given to the Tyler Herndon Memorial Foundation.
Dr. Tom Clark, Gnome maker, deceasedDr. Tom Clark, former Davidson college professor and sculptor, passed away January 14th at 93. Many remember the Tom Clark gnome sculptures that were so popular years ago. ( Do you have some on a shelf?) His gnomes and woodspirits were popular and collected all over the world.Clark sculpted his first gnome in 1978, and that business went "through the roof" and Clark left Davidson in 1985. He was a talented artist and sculptor with many more "serious" sculptures and works.

COVID 19 Vaxathon to be held February 5th
An event to allow more people to be vaccinated against COVID 19 will be held in various Gaston County locations on February 5th between 10 AM and 2 PM. Only 51% of Gaston County residents are fully vaccinated.The event is designed to allow those who have had doubts, but now see the positive results, effectiveness and necessity of getting a vaccine.The vaccine and boosters will be available simultaneously in 10 different locations:
