For the last 121 years the elevated windows on the west side of Loray Mill have offered striking views of Crowder's Mountain and Kings Pinnacle. Now it appears that folks will get to enjoy those views again. We are hearing that Phase II of Loray Mill will move forward, with the redevelopment of the western part of the mill that has sat idle for years. The plan will create 196 new units in the mill itself. Originally the plan called for developing 24 cottages along South Vance Street as well, but that appears uncertain at this point.

Santa has new kidney!
Santa Claus is coming to town -- with a new kidney.
For the past 23 years, Joe Greene has portrayed Santa Claus at his and wife Anna’s flea market in Gaston County, N.C. It’s one of Joe’s most treasured times of year. “That’s just what’s in my heart is to make people happy,” Joe says.
Joe was taken aback in 2019 to learn one of his kidneys was failing. He met with physicians at Atrium Health, who prescribed a care plan while awaiting a kidney.
This past April, Joe’s wish for a new kidney was granted: A family friend, Heather Phillips, had been discreetly undergoing tests to see if she was a match – and she was!
“You never think you’re going to operate on Santa Claus, but we are excited that we are able to help him get back to feeling better to share his joy with the world,” says Dr. Roger Denny.
They are happy to share Joe is feeling healthy and making children’s spirits bright again, appearing as Santa leading up to Christmas, just months after his surgery

Packers 33, Panthers 30Panthers brought the fight, but to no avail
The Panthers lost a close one on Sunday. The Packers kicked a field goal with 19 seconds left to go ahead 33-30. Bryce Young and company completed two passes of 22 yards to get to the 31 yard line (where they could have kicked a field goal for the win) But they were out of time outs, and time ran out. Very frustrating and disappointing.Sunday was better, even though we lost.*QB Bryce Young ended the day with 23 of 36, 312 yards and 2 touchdowns.*Wide Receiver Adam Thielen was 6 for 94 yards.*Wide receiver DJ Clark Jr. was 6 for 98, and 2 touchdowns. The Panthers play the Jacksonville Jaguars next Sunday at 1 PM in Jacksonville.
