Honey Hunters pay past due ballpark rent and other fees to GastoniaThe City of Gastonia has confirmed that they have received a check for $88,038.75 for past due rent and other fees owed to it by the Honey Hunters organization.The Honey Hunters also owed Gaston County for Emergency Medical Services and Gastonia Police officers that have worked off duty to cover games. Gaston County says that they have received a partial payment for monies owed for emergency medical services, and police officers were present at last Tuesdays game.It is unclear if they have paid other vendors monies owed at this point. Last year, Burlington based OT Sports Industries sued Momentus Hospitality Group, one of Brandon Bellamy's companies for $11,880. According to Veronia Jeong, CEO of Momentous and the Honey Hunters, OT Sports has been paid.

New lake front park near BelmontDuke Energy has leased a beachfront park near Belmont to Gaston County. The park includes a swimming beach, boat ramps, two large fishing piers, picnic areas, and public parking on the 68 acre site.In their agreement with Gaston County, Duke will also build a canoe and kayak launch area., for which Gaston county will pay a portion.The park is located is located at the Southpoint Access Recreation area.
Bryce Young to start against Aaron Rodgers and the New York JetsThe Panthers play in a preseason opener at home against the New York Jets this Saturday, August 12th. Bryce Young was named the Panther's starting quarterback two weeks ago, although it's not certain how many reps he will get according to coach Frank Reich.Meanwhile, Aaron Rodgers has looked really sharp in practice, especially in the short game with the Jets.
Missing Gastonia woman found safeCissy Lee Collins and her baby have been found safe according to Gastonia police.Collins was missing fr about two weeks and was 9 months pregnant at the time.Police have not disclosed why Collins was missing or what happened.

More casinos on the drawing board?More casinos on the drawing board? Not in Gaston County, but maybe in Nash County. Right now there are only three casinos in North Carolina: One in Kings Mountain owned by the Catawba Indians, and two owned by the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians.On July 28, the Nash County Board of Commissioners voted 6-1 in favor of a resolution calling for a referendum to give voters the power to decide if a casino development could move forward.Nash County is about 50 milers east of Raleigh and is along the I-95 corridor.
