Good Morning America was in Belmont this morning! The live broadcast live was part of their "My Kind of Town" series, and highlighted Holy Angels and its' businesses.
The segment showcased the nonprofit's mission to serve people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and the community's supportive spirit.

So Charlotte really is the gateway to Gastonia...The Highland School of Technology is the best public high school in the Charlotte Metro area, according to U.S. News.Highland students have the opportunity to take Advanced Placement® coursework and exams. The AP® participation rate at Highland School of Technology is 66%. The total minority enrollment is 38%, and 27% of students are economically disadvantaged. Highland School of Technology is 1 of 15 high schools in the Gaston County School System.There were about 24,000 high schools eligible nationwide, of which 18,000 were ranked. Highland ranked #1 in Gaston County, #1 in Charlotte Metro, #11 in North Carolina, and #392 nationally.Congrats teachers, staff, and students!
Waterbean Coffee in Gastonia looks like they are still at least a month out from opening. This will be their 18th or 19th location, including one in Belmont. They are also opening in Hickory soon. Their brand is distinguished by their upscale coffee shop interiors, and I'm sure they would say-their coffee.

The handsome bearded fellows above are on the front facade of the Esquire Hotel. As many times as I have been in downtown Gastonia (DTG),I have never noticed these charming faces.The building was built in 1918 as the First National Bank, before becoming the Lawyers Building. It is now part of the Ascend Collection by Choice Hotels.
The recently renovated hotel features 35 guest rooms with unique, glamorous designs, an on-site restaurant called Barrister's, a basement coffee shop, and a rooftop bar offering views of Kings Mountain.
Cotton Ginning Days are coming!
Cotton Ginning Days are coming October 10-12. Exhibitors from all over the southeast will convene in Dallas, North Carolina on October 10 through 12, 2025 for the annual 'crank-up' of antique steam and gasoline engines and tractors. In addition to the engine show, many activities are planned including a kids county fair, heritage arts area, handmade craft vendors, and music.If you haven't been- it's a blast!
Shareholders approve Piedmont-Sayona Mining merger
The Piedmont-Sayona Mining merger has been approved by shareholders and will take effect August 29th. Sayona will serve as the parent entity, and the new company will be named Elevra Lithium. They will be headquartered in Austrailia, but the U.S. Headquarters will be in Belmont.
