Gaston County Dyeing Machine property sold to Red Hill VenturesThe Gaston county Dyeing Machine property, built in the 1960's, has been sold to Red Hill Ventures. Red Hill Ventures is committed to revitalizing theproperty, deepening the current community roots, and adding additional development opportunities.
The industrial park is the original home of Gaston County Dyeing Machine Company, a leader in thetextile industry in North Carolina since their founding in 1921. This facility was built in the late 1960s to accommodate their industry growth and new technology, including the cloth beam dyeing machineand the jet dyeing machine. Gaston Electronics, an extension of Gaston Dye, will remain active on the property, along with current tenants Auto Truck Transport, Metro Print, Worth Supply and BoxmanStudios.

Gastonia fire hydrants in need of repairA local television station has identified 115 Gastonia fire hydrants that are in need of repair. Gastonia work orders show that some are difficult to to open, or can't be opened at all, and some need replacing altogether.
"It's a combination of having to address fire hydrants along with all the other duties we're responsible for," said Gastonia Director of Public Utilities Brian Potocki. "It's a case-by-case basis," he said. "We work very closely with our fire department on hydrant priorities and if those hydrants are deemed as a high priority, then those get moved up on the list and get repaired a lot faster."
Back Yard Burgers files for bankruptcyGastonia's Back Yard Burgers opened in September 2020, and closed in April of this year. Now the entire chain-partially owned by former Panther's player Mushin Muhammed II- has declared bankruptcy.Back Yard Burgers was part of Charlotte based Axum Capital Partners. Axum also filed for Chapter 11 protection for Wild Wing Cafe on July 19.
